Coinbase Wallet | All Your Crypto in One Place

Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody crypto wallet that puts you in control. Securely store your digital assets, explore decentralized apps (dApps), and connect to the future of the internet—Web3.

Unlike your Coinbase account, Coinbase Wallet is a non-custodial wallet. You own your private keys, which means you have complete control over your cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and digital assets. It’s your passport to everything the decentralized web has to offer, from DeFi to digital art.

Your Keys, Your Crypto

With Coinbase Wallet, you are your own bank. Your 12-word recovery phrase is the master key to your assets, encrypted and stored securely on your device. We built the wallet with simplicity and security at its core, providing a user-friendly gateway to the expansive and exciting world of Web3.

Why Choose Coinbase Wallet?

  • Truly Self-Custody: You hold the keys. We never have access to your recovery phrase or the assets in your Coinbase Wallet.
  • Access Thousands of dApps: Seamlessly connect to and interact with decentralized applications across DeFi (like Uniswap, Compound), NFT marketplaces (like OpenSea), play-to-earn games, and metaverse platforms.
  • Multi-Chain & Multi-Asset: Support for hundreds of thousands of coins and tokens across Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and many more blockchain networks.
  • Buy, Swap, and Send with Ease: Purchase crypto with a debit card or Apple/Google Pay directly in the app, swap tokens across chains, and send to anyone, anywhere, just by using their username or ENS address.
  • Your NFT Gallery: Easily view, manage, and showcase your entire NFT collection in one beautiful, organized gallery—all within your wallet.
  • Seamless Connection to Coinbase: Easily and instantly transfer crypto between your Coinbase exchange account and your self-custody Coinbase Wallet with a few taps.

Getting Started is Simple

1. Download the App

Get Coinbase Wallet from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can also start with the Chrome Extension for desktop browsing.

2. Create Your Wallet

Choose “Create new wallet.” You will receive a 12-word secret recovery phraseThis is the single most important piece of information. Write it down on paper and store it in a secure, offline location. Never share it with anyone.

3. Secure and Fund

Follow the in-app prompts to add an extra layer of security, like a passcode or biometrics. Then, fund your wallet by transferring crypto from another wallet, buying directly in-app, or receiving from a friend.

4. Start Exploring Web3

Use the built-in dApp browser to discover applications. When you find one you like, simply tap “Connect Wallet” to begin interacting securely.

Designed for Confidence and Discovery

Coinbase Wallet features the clean, intuitive design you expect from Coinbase. We’ve made complex Web3 actions—like swapping tokens on a decentralized exchange or approving a smart contract—clear and understandable. Every transaction is previewed in plain language before you sign, so you always know exactly what you’re approving.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What’s the difference between Coinbase and Coinbase Wallet?
Your main Coinbase account is a custodial account where we securely store your assets for you. It's for buying, selling, and trading on our exchange. Coinbase Wallet is a separate, self-custody app where you hold your own private keys. It’s built for exploring the broader decentralized web (Web3), using dApps, and holding NFTs.

2. What happens if I lose my phone or recovery phrase?
Your recovery phrase is your only backup. If you lose your phone but have your phrase, you can download Coinbase Wallet on a new device, select “I already have a wallet,” and enter your 12-word phrase to restore full access. If you lose your recovery phrase, no one—not even Coinbase—can recover your wallet or funds.

3. Is Coinbase Wallet free to use?
Yes, downloading and using Coinbase Wallet is free. However, you will always pay blockchain network fees (often called “gas fees”) when you swap tokens, send crypto, or interact with dApps. These fees are paid to the network validators, not to Coinbase.

4. Which cryptocurrencies and networks does it support?
Coinbase Wallet supports most major networks (Ethereum, Polygon, etc.) and hundreds of thousands of ERC-20 tokens. It also supports Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Litecoin, and other native assets via integration with the Coinbase exchange for transfers. You can always check the full list within the app's Assets tab.

5. How secure is my crypto in Coinbase Wallet?
The wallet is designed with robust security: your private keys are stored encrypted on your device, not on our servers. We provide clear transaction previews to help you avoid scams. Your security ultimately depends on you: protecting your recovery phrase offline and keeping your device secure.

6. Can I use Coinbase Wallet on my computer?
Yes. You can use the Coinbase Wallet extension for Chrome (and other Chromium browsers). For the best experience, you can pair your mobile wallet with the browser extension via QR code, giving you access to the same wallet on both desktop and mobile.
